We provide and manage our internet security to our networked devices in the district with on premise and cloud solutions. We also track and record inbound and outbound traffic for intrusion detection and policy violations is in compliance with State and Federal guidelines. The Gloucester Public Schools internet access is managed by powerful content filtering software / hardware to allow for appropriate safe content viewing by children and staff.
We run a mixed OS environment for our workstations, servers and directory systems across the district. We currently use MacOS, Windows, VMware, ChromeOS, and Linux, these systems are connected to our Local/Cloud based servers for Authentication, Printing, and Storage.
We deploy server layers of antivirus protection across our various systems. All of our email is scanned in real time for infected mail and attachments. Infected files are quarantined and cleaned before being allowed in. Along with the email scanning each PC workstation is running an anti-virus & anti-malware package and is updated on a regular basis to ensure a virus/malware free working environment.
The Gloucester Public Schools utilize a high speed fiberoptic internet connection to provide staff and students access to the services and tools needed to support our educational goals. This system has redundant systems in place to ensure little to no downtime. All buildings in the District are internal hardwired and have wireless networks running at 1000+ Mbps, with 10Gb trunked fiber optic backbone connections throughout the city. We also support high speed wireless backhauls for remote sites off of our fiber network.
